Windows to Religion

This exhibition explores the relationship between religion and technology, questioning how ancient connections between believers and God are evolving in the digital age. The centerpiece is a video art installation that imitates a space of a house of prayer, where the ‘divine’ light shining through the windows comes from Windows 10 operating system windows. These windows serve as a gateway to a spiritual virtual world and might even symbolize a new religion- the religion of technology.

Golden “icons” in the space, made from QR codes, invite viewers to engage in various religious practices from around the world, such as sending a note to the Wall, online confession, and meditation via mobile. This blend of elements allows the viewer to experience a theology grounded in technology, touching on the deep roots of magic, mysticism, and religion.

The installation is a video essay inspired by Dr. Carmel Wiseman’s course, “For God Click Here,” part of the digital culture program at Tel Aviv University
