Hug on Wood

Oil on metal panel, 70 x 180 cm, 2004

The works contain two dialogue spaces. One dialogue is between personal and public space. Personal space is represented by a painting of an intimate moment of hug and touch. I drew the people closest to me: family members and friends. The public space is expressed through painting on large metal panels, the same material used for street and transportation signs. The medium of painting on tin allows the paintings to be displayed outside, in the public space

A second dialogue deals with our relationship to nature, particularly urban nature. Placing the paintings on trees creates a dialogue with a longing to connect with nature, to create an intimate space with it, while also being aware of the mediating buffer between us.
